The KALI apps allows you to use the best of both world: With KisMAC and/or Realtek Utility
on all OSX: from Snow Leopard to Lion. (10.6.x - 10.7.x )
Does not work on 10.9 or 10.10. For 10.9 and above, you'll have to use a Bootable USB with either 10.6.8, 10.7 or 10.8
Until now, it was either KisMAC or Realtek on Snow Leopard. On Lion it was none...
That is, until now ...

1b) For Airport , ditto, please read the FAQ: Airport does not allow any active attack.
2) Run the Report Generator.app , send us the report (Automagically filled out on Mac Mail). The Report is MANDATORY.
3) WE'LL CONFIRM with the report generated based on your configuration. Know before you buy!
Do NOT buy before you have received our confirmation. The Report is MANDATORY.

Update August 2012
KisMAC Trunk r407 has been released
This trunk fixes some of the issues with Lion 10.7+ and 10.8
Airport Passive Mode is still not working but you may/can use an USB adapter with it (WLAN)
this is a temporary fix and you use KisMAC r407 at your own risk(s)
Please report to Kismac-ng for any other info.
If you still need/want to use your Alfa 036h/Realtek without KisMAC, then keep on reading...
------
- You CANNOT use the card 036H with KisMAC and the Realtek Utility at the same time! It's one or the other. Just as you can not use Airport on 2 different networks at the same time. We can't split the card physically in two. We've tried to slice them, alas, it breaks them. ;-)
- You CAN use them on one OR the other. Just not at the same time
- The Realtek App must be installed or un-installed properly! If you have previously installed and just trashed the Realtek App, some files were left behind. --> Use the UNinstaller provided in the Package then re-install accordingly to the instructions.
Alfa AWUS036H is KisMAC Compatible, but if you install the Realtek Utility, you can not use the card with KisMAC, It's too bad, because using the Alfa increase drastically the quality of your internet connection. Try to get a 3000ft connection with Airport ... The KALI App allow you to use the best of both world.
->>> Alfa AWUS036NH & NHR are not KisMAC Compatible <<<-
->>> Airport does not allow for re-injection or active attacks, and it won't simply not work. We recommend the Alfa card as detailed on "Best KisMAC compatible Wi-Fi card". We've tried a bunch and always go back the Alfa.
->>> Kali App is licensed to you only, one user, one computer. You can not "lend it to friends" or "pass it along"
->>> Not working on Mountain Lion.
The App allow you to use the Realtek Utility Application / Ralink WLAN on both OSX 10.6.8 and 10.7 Lion and thus get a much better connection than with your Airport alone. This is for 036H and 036NH only. For NHR the Drivers are free and provided above.

User Questions Answered:
- Once installed, will my airport card built into my MacBook air work like normal still? I've bought the alpha awus036h to tinker around with kismac. Want to test my own wpa2 protected airport extreme... Anyway, when I'm done with the alpha is it easy to revert to the airport card? Or can they work side by side? I noted when using the airport in monitor mode (passive) you have no means to continue with safari. Clearly airport can't do both at once. I see in your read me file it says with Kali you can do both... Is that with alpha doing kismac and airport doing wifi/safari? Or alpha/Kali doing both? Thanks in advance! I'm running Lion 10.7.2 by the way! Scott
- - Scott, Yes, Kali does not interfere with your Airport. When you will use your Airport with KisMAC on PASSIVE Mode You will see the menu bar icon changing. It's called "rfmon".You'll basically go from "talk and listen" to "listen only", that's why your internet connection stop working for Safari or surfing the web: You can't talk anymore. With Kali and Realtek App, you can have the Alfa AWUS036H connected to the internet (WLAN) and KisMAC on Passive Mode, hence have both working side by side. What you can NOT do is having KisMAC using the Alfa AND trying to use the Realtek App at the same time, just as you can not have 2 simultaneous different connections with Airport
Why Do You Need My IP In The Report?
"I don't feel comfortable sharing that with you"
We don't need your IP, or ISP, you can remove that if you want to. It's just easier to ask System Profiler to provide info "in bulk" than going trough every single line of it and parse it into a file.
We need some of the info, but not all; But we also understand your concerns and are somewhat flexible.
On a side note: We've received emails mentioning that some users were concerned about sharing their IP. Well, in that case, don't send an email, because your IP & ISP are in it. -in clear- ;-)
If you are concerned about your IP, don't use the Internet. Period. Good old letter and a stamp.
Also, while reading those words, you've told Google more than you have told your closest friend in a while.. Please, don't get me going on that ....
As a repeat, you erase what you want in the report; If there is not enough in it for us to ensure that Kali can work without having you sending us a bunch of angry emails, we'll just decline. That simple.
- Is it really working?
We'll let you judge yourself ... have you ever seen a laptop with 5 (five) distinct Internet connections ;-)
Alfa 36H, 36NH, 36NHR, Hawking UG1, Airport. All working at the same time...
The second pic on the right shows the Alfa Utility working with Lion
Also, on the left. You see a 92% quality connection from House to House, distant by 155 ft and trough 5 walls, including a closet and a kitchen wall with cabinets in the middle. Those are US type walls, not 6 feet thick "French Castle" granite walls, but still... Out of Line of Sight, out of Fresnel zone, 5 walls, 155 feet.
This baby rocks!

Uninstall The Realtek App
-Do not trash "as is" or files will be left behind.
-Use the Uninstaller provided with the drivers package. or use the App we made for that.
Update July 2013. Our Realtek uninstaller closes the Sudo command with the proper method "-K" since day one. A loophole and later metasploit were discovered concerning the sudo command when not closed properly, allowing an attacker to re-use the sudo command without re-entering proper credentials. We have always closed the sudo command properly! Kuddos to us :)

Alfa AWUS036NHR
It's my new baby: 811 b/g/n and a truly AMAZING quality of reception.
The transmit power is up to 2000mW, but most of Mac have a limited power supply on the USB. To fully use the 2000mW, you'll need specific drivers only available on Windows. Nevertheless, With the NHR on Mac, I went trough 5 walls, between 2 houses distant of 155ft and had a 95% quality link. Airport was DOA with 5%
Alfa Tube-U (G)
A Waterproof Outdoor b/g equivalent of the Alfa AWUS036H , Great for Boating, RV's, Camping or
Trekking. Comes with a 16ft / 5meter USB extension. As many times stated, There is NO LOSS of signal with USB. This is not the case with Coax cable.

ReplyDelete"I just ordered an N"
--> NH or NHR?
--> Hackintosh with Lion? I would say probably yes with a 36H, but can't guarantee it a all. With a NH, more likely. The NH is NOT kisMac compatible.
"Kismac will support the NHR?"
I don't think so, at least in a near future.
sorry, just been busy the past few days and with the damn flu. let me shot you guys an email and let you guys know whats the deal. thanks for follow up on this.

Sorry, meant to say "H" not "N" in my previous comment. I have both a 36H and an NHR now. Turns out the 36H works great OOB with Kismac in Lion on my Hackintosh. The NHR works great as a regular WiFi adapter with the drivers you posted. So I think for now, I'm set.
ReplyDeleteReally appreciate all you do here, thanks!
I moved to another machine and ran the Kail app, got this: "Ahem. It appears that you are using an UNREGISTERED SOFTWARE! <...blah blah blah>"
ReplyDeleteWhat can I do about this? I know I paid for it.
hello,
ReplyDeleteYou do not "buy" Kali app, you buy a license to use it, on a single machine for a single user. Otherwise you could move it to machine to machine to machine. etc.
This is absolutely a common practice, just as you can not ~legally~ install the same license of OSX on multiple machines
Just received my alfa 1000mw. I have used it with kismac and it works wonderfully. But I want to also use it as an antenna.. I have not downloaded drivers because I have read it will disable kismac functionality. Is this true?
ReplyDeleteWith your product can I use my airport card to connect to the net while using alfa to kismac and vice versa?
I'm on a 4 yr old MacBook pro running lion.
I really want to test the antenna feature.
Can I uninstall driver if I test it out?
SpartanJer,
ReplyDeleteI had to read your post twice:
An "antenna" is the black thingy that you put on the card. What you want is to use the Alfa as a WLAN.
...disable kismac functionality. Is this true?
- Correct
..connect to the net while using alfa to kismac and vice versa?
- Correct
see first picture.
Sorry had a couple Bottles of wine with my wife.
ReplyDeleteTy for your quick response. I'm having a blast using kismac and the alfa extender. But have yet to be able to try all my new networks. (alfa as WLAN)
Still learning a ton daily. Starting to think Kali is a must.
Two questions though.
1.Is it possible to uninstall alfa driver on os 10.7.
2.are drivers installed on all users on the Mac?
(if not I could just set up a user profile for kismac and install the driver on my normal user for WLAN)
"the alfa extender"
ReplyDeleteExtender? ;-)
I'm trying to download the Report Generator.app but you guys are too popular (generating too much traffic) and Dropbox has blocked the download. Is this available anywhere else?
ReplyDeleteAccording to the second account, ~about 2hrs
ReplyDeleteAlso, it would greatly help us if you were to use referral link ;-)
Ryan,
ReplyDeletelook at the very bottom of the article. :-)
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI installed first the REALTALK drivers (I know I'm a douche), then delete all this shit with your utility. I'm trying to start a scan with a ALFA 036H and mac OS X 10.6.8 but I have the message COULD NOT INSTANTIATE THE DRIVER.
I paid you before sending you the mail so I'm waiting the KALI app.
I would like to know if the KALI app will be able to fix this problem ?
Yes, -If you read the "READ-ME.PDF"- that you will receive.
ReplyDeleteI can not stress enough that you will save time and a lot of efforts by reading the read-me.pdf twice.
read, have a coffee, re-read.
where is this "read-me.pdf" I downloaded the driver but I did not see it.
Deleteit's with Kali App, not available as free download.
DeleteHi, running 10.7.2 and attempting to use the 036NHR. When I click to download from the link in this article (" Alfa AWUS036NHR Mac Drivers For Lion 10.7 http://db.tt/MWWgjmTe (DropBox link. it's Secure! AES 256-bit" ) that claims "10.6.8 64-b to 10.7.2 NEW! Working !!! " what actually downloads is a 10.6 installer, Alfa_AWU036NHR_Driver_OSX_10.6.zip.
ReplyDeleteWhen unzipped, it has a utility_release.txt from Jan 5, 2011, that references 1.8.8 utility, a version much older than the 1.9.7 utility that supports OS X 10.7. Is it possible the DropBox link above is set for a wrong zip file? Loading the installer on a 10.7.2 machine doesn't appear to load either the drivers or the utility, since the uninstall command brings up an error saying it's never been installed.
Corrected, updated to UI ver.1.9.7
ReplyDeleteThanks
What if I already have the reltek driver installed would this still work or would i have to uninstall it?
ReplyDeleteIt will work, that's the point. :-)
ReplyDeleteSorry if this has been answered somewhere, but I was wondering if it was possible, with kali, to have AWUS036H work on both OS X lion and on a parallels desktop 7 VM running a version of gnome 64bit backtrack 5r2? have you had any experience with this?
ReplyDeletemany thanks,
- sleepyjz
I have never tried, plus, I am not sure it's possible to run the Alfa on Gnome. Kali was written for OSX, not for Linux.
DeleteSorry if this ends up being published twice ("verification" loves denying banal messages apparently), but I wanted to know if you have had experience with VM's. I have backtrack 5r2 GNOME running on parallels 7 on lion and was wondering if the Kali app could have any influence over making the AWUS036H work in backtrack. I do not know if it doesn't work, but my purchase decision will be solidified if the adapter could potentially work in both lion and in backtrack. Any experience in this area?
ReplyDeleteMany thanks,
- sleepyjz
I'm having some trouble with the 036H and KisMac, it wont inject on any of the networks I test it on. Is this because of the lack of KisMac drivers for Lion (KisMac says it doesnt support the 8187 past 10.6.7) or is it just something I'm doing wrong. Will Kali help with this, or is Kali only useful if I also want to use the 036H to connect to the internet
ReplyDeleteYes, Kali will make it work with the recommended card (alfa 036h) Please see the screenshot or the video for proof.
DeleteI use Kali with my 036H, amazing software - thank you!
ReplyDeleteI also have a 036NHR. I am running Lion 10.7.3 and used the recommended drivers to no avail. I did use the unistaller on the root account to delete and fresh install (and this was all before I had Kali or another driver installed, etc). I actually bought the 036H so I could use the Kali app and ensure I had a working configuration.
Is it possible to use Kali to get my 036NHR to work under 10.7.3?
The Realtek driver would load and recognize the 036NHR, and actually connector to a wifi spot, but then it would drop off after about 3 seconds and would no longer be recognized by the mac. If I shut it off and turned it back on (via the Realtek app) it would work and connect for another few seconds before dropping off. Very unusual.
Scott,
ReplyDeleteJust to be sure :
You are not trying to use the NHR with KisMAC, correct?
Is your NHR is recognized in the System Profiler under USB?
What is the version of your Realtek drivers for the NHR?
You are correct, I am not trying to use the NHR with KisMAC.
DeleteThe NHR shows up in the System Profiler under USB.
I was using the current version 1.97 of the realtek driver for 10.7 (per your link, and I cross checked the Alfa website and the Realtek site).
Contact us via the email provided with Kali for support
DeleteThanks
I made the mistake to install ralink' s latest driver for AWUS036NH on Lion while I had KisMAC installed. Before installing this driver "RTUSB D2870-4.1.8.0 UI-4.0.6.0_2011_10_21" I could perfectly run Backtrack 5 R2 through VMWare Fusion 4. The 036NH was working like a charm. However, now it seems as if Lion recognizes the card when it is connected to the usb and it does not let it work properly with Backtrack. I also noticed that Fusion turned the classic usb icon (on the devices toolbar) into a camera icon. It is as if Fusion recognizes the NH as a camera and not as a USB device. I used the ralink' s driver uninstaller card with no luck. Then I tried your Realtek uninstaller which made Backtrack recognize the card but it still did not work properly. I am thinking of formatting my hard drive, I wish I knew a way to fix it or completely remove the driver. I also send a report with my system's information. Please let me know if you have any suggestion. Thanks
ReplyDelete"I used the ralink' s driver uninstaller card with no luck. Then I tried your Realtek uninstaller"
ReplyDelete- Why would you use a "Realtek" uninstaller for a "Ralink" chipset?
"I am thinking of formatting my hard drive"
Old PC habits, huh? ;-)
- Have you considered Time Machine?, it's was made for that.
Lastly, you've mentioned BT & Fusion, that's a lot going on for me to diagnose something without seeing it. Try repairing the permission with Onyx or equivalent
"I used the ralink' s driver uninstaller card with no luck. Then I tried your Realtek uninstaller
ReplyDelete- Why would you use a "Realtek" uninstaller for a "Ralink" chipset? "
I meant to say Ralink not Realtek, my mistake.
"I am thinking of formatting my hard drive"
Old PC habits, huh? ;-)
- Have you considered Time Machine?, it's was made for that."
True but unfortunately I have time machine turned off.
I think I fixed the problem, it seems that VMWare Fusion had created an additional wireless adapter inside Backtrack which messed everything up. This happened because I installed ralink' s driver. I shut Backtrack down and then removed all the network adapters from Fusion's preferences panel. So now when I connect the 36NH back to Backtrack, it seems to work fine with packet injection. The camera icon though has not changed yet!
I was wondering, why is it so difficult for someone to write a driver for 36NH that will work with KisMac.
"I was wondering, why is it so difficult for someone to write a driver for 36NH that will work with KisMac."
ReplyDelete- Obviously other stuff to fix first
- The NH chipset is being phased out
- when can you start coding? ;-)
"True but unfortunately I have time machine turned off."
You HAD it turned off or you HAVE it turned off? if the latter, well, then....
"True but unfortunately I have time machine turned off."
ReplyDeleteYou HAD it turned off or you HAVE it turned off? if the latter, well, then...."
No I just never use Time Machine. I keep it deactivated. I prefer to backup my files the way I want. :P
Can't argue with that.
ReplyDeleteit seems to work ... :-) :-)
hi, i have a non original awus036h ,can i buy your app to make it work with this usb card
ReplyDeleteProduct ID: 0x8187

Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Wireless Manufacturer

Using the term "non-original" is refreshing :-)
DeleteYou have a counterfeit card with the wrong chipset and no, it will not work neither with Kali or KisMAC.
Return it to the store.
Good luck.
Hi,
ReplyDeletefirst sorry for any grammatical errors and, eventually, for banal questions, I'm writing from Italy;
I have two cards Alfa: the AWUS036H and AWUS036NHR.
Also I have a MBP with 10.7.3 Lion (64bit).
As for wireless cards, the AWUS036NHR is not supported by KisMAC and, of consequence, by Kali app, right?
Then, Kali app, essentially, allows the use of AWUS036H (chipset RTL8187) on lion 10.7.3 thath normally not work, right?
Thanks
correct
Deleteok, so I first download the kali generator, then I send you the email generated with the report and finally (after your confirmation) I proceed with payment, right?
Deleteone last question: I have to format the macbook soon, shall I have problems with the license, or something?
What are the updates?
Thanks
Correct.
ReplyDeleteI have to format the macbook soon, shall I have problems with the license, or something?
->> No, as long as you don't "distribute" the app.
What are the updates?
->> based on the change(s) made by Apple on OS X
i just bought the alfa and it scans... and everything, however it is not injecting and its receiving unique iv's at the same rate as my airport express. i am on mac osx 10.7.1 also like its already chosen as primary device and everything. When i tested injecting, like 5 of them were green. I deauthenticated it also and then reinjected and 0 response. What should i do?
ReplyDeleteviveack:
ReplyDeleteYou are posting in the wrong section, your questions are KisMAC related. please re-post in the correct section AFTER having read the troubleshooting page >> "it is not injecting and its receiving unique iv's at the same rate as my airport express" & "I deauthenticated "
joshua;
ReplyDeleteNo. The report is for Kali app only
I'd like to buy the antennae, and your app, and I'd even like to donate to your charity, and recommend the whole thing to friends, but unless you can make these instructions easier to understand for a guy (or girl) without any knowledge of this stuff, I'm going to end up doing nothing.
ReplyDeleteI have a Macbook Air I bought last August. It's running Mac OS X v. 10.7.3
I understand I have to run a report before I buy the antennae, but the first thing you say in the instructions it to choose a "card", which seems to be referring to an antennae model. How am I suppose to know which one to choose?
You are confused because you use one word for another.
ReplyDeleteAntenna: (Wiki): An antenna is an electrical device which converts electric currents into radio waves, and vice versa. It is usually used with a radio transmitter
In short, the black rod that sticks out.
Radio Transmitter AKA, "The Card". The stuff that converts data into radio waves and vice versa.
Same as with your TV and the antenna.
"which seems to be referring to an antennae model. How am I suppose to know which one to choose?"
Click on the link that says "Alfa AWUS036H"
the card is provided with an antenna.
report:
yes, automagically sent with the Report Generator.app, and this in order to avoid "Macbook Air I bought last August"
I suppose if I was to tell you to fix my RAV4 that I bought 2years ago, you would have to ask me more questions, no?
So that's why the report generator was made.
Do you plan Kali to support mountain lion?
ReplyDeleteI don't mind waiting with the upgrade for a few weeks, but otherwise I'll update now.
Thanks
FAQ ??
ReplyDeletethe FAQ states "Not working on Mountain Lion". from your response I gather that no support is planned...
ReplyDeleteWill Kali work on Mountain Lion soon?
ReplyDeleteThanks
It doesn't work yet with OSX 10.8
ReplyDeleteDirkie,
ReplyDeleteNot Working on 10.8, as stated on the FAQ
I just sent the report and my awus036h + mac osx 10.7 configuration should work according to the respnse email i got.
ReplyDeletehowever, before purchasing i want to make sure i will be able to use the alfa card as a primary device for connecting to the internet on 64-bit instead of my wifi?
i want to connect to the internet with the alfa card and share this connection with my airport card setting up a wifi hotspot.
will that work with the kali app on 64bit?
thanks,
tom
Tom,
DeleteNo, for that you'll have to use a NHR. As for the wifi hotspot, I am not sure if you mean sharing your connection with multiple clients or extending your range.
Works great. Tks for turning the mushy Realtek into a usable app.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI have a Alfa AWVS036H and I just bought a new macbook air that comes with OS X versión 10.9.1. I'm trying to run the Report Generator app so I can buy Kali, but when I download and run the Report Generator app it says it is broken and it needs to be sent to the trash bin.
I hope you can help me because I have been looking like crazy a way to make the Alfa anntena work with mac and this is the most recommended software and drivers on the web.
By the way, I have no problem paying you the 3 extra dollars for the animal shelter.
Thanks a lot waiting for your reply
Alejandro
10.9 has rendered many drivers DOA, it won't work. The solution is to use OSX 10.7 or 10.6.8 on a bootable USB, as described here:
Deletehttp://easymactips.blogspot.com/2001/06/how-to-create-usb-bootable-osx-leopard.html
You can switch to a USB 3.00 for better performances
The antenna won't work or only the Report Generator app?? If I use the bootable USB to make the Report Generator to work do I have to use it also anytime I want to use the antenna??
DeleteAlejandro,
DeleteJust FYI, the "antenna" is the black rod that sticks out of the card. You better call the Alfa "a Card" or a "WLAN"
If you ONLY want to use the 036H with KisMAC, just use KisMAC r407 or KisMAC2. Be aware that they are 2 different "forks" (Not made by the same team)
If you want to use the Alfa 036H for both internet communication AND KisMAC, you'll have to boot on 10.6.8 or 10.7+
The core drivers of the 036H will not work on 10.8 or 10.9, hence there is not need for us to fix the report generator.
Hi. After purchasing Kali, my 036H worked perfectly... until it plunged in salt water. I bought a replacement but it won't work. I sent a new report but still waiting for your response. Do you still offer te excellent service?
ReplyDeletePierre, lemme check the spam folder just in case ...
Delete- yes, we still provide outstanding service :)
- Where did you buy your replacement? eBay? Check in the system profiler under USB and let me know *exactly* what you see when the Alpha is plugged.
Bought on Amazon. Not sure what you mean by system profiler as I'm all in French. I'm not aware I'm running two 036H. I did uninstall before installing driver again.
DeleteYour report shows two Alpha RTL8187: en4 and en5. Hence, two are still installed "somewhere"
DeleteMost likely visible under System Information >> Network
System profiler, or information system > http://bit.ly/1ly3n8S
After fiddling around, I got it going with a new interface even. Many tks :-)
DeleteI didn't get the point here. Why do we need that? I can use my RTL8187 (disguised as AWUS036H) on KisMAC to inject and deauthenticate without any problems!
ReplyDeleteCan you use it as a WLAN?
DeleteCan you use multiple WLAN? at the same time?
Can you use both Airport And your AWUS036H, connected at the same, on 2 different networks?

ReplyDeleteNigel,
DeleteNot an ID 10T, but we provided you with a specific email address for support. :)
the reason being that if you need to send files or private info, the blog is maybe not the best place to post *publicly* such info. :P
please resend to the support email
